RINA Gives Back - East Bay Waves

Two young boys and a coach at basketball practice. The East Bay Waves youth basketball program.

One of my favorite parts of writing the RINA Gives Back article is learning about local organizations, what they do for the communities in which we work and live and the dedication and involvement of my colleagues.

East Bay Waves provides the local youth a chance to learn the game of basketball and compete in local tournaments. They strive to develop high character athletes on and off the court. The program began in August 2018 and became incorporated in October 2018. As a basketball player himself, this has given Kevin the opportunity to give back to the community while doing something he loves. He really enjoys teaching the kids the game and watching them grow each practice. “It’s rewarding to see the kids take leadership opportunities on their respective teams and use teamwork to accomplish a common goal.” The spring season begins in late February and ends in May. As East Bay Waves expands, they plan to host fundraising events in the future and their goal is to be the premier basketball program in the entire East Bay.
