Grass Roots Gay Rights West

3/7/2014
What do you get with 25 volunteers and 10 months of hard work and planning? Community events that raise between $200,000 and $300,000 - and then you give it all away to non-profit organizations throughout the Bay Area. In November 2013, Grass Roots Gay Rights West, a California 501(c) 3 organization, gave away $300,000 for a total give-away in its history of $2,000,000. The model is unique- it is all volunteer with no overhead. So 100% of gross general admission ticket proceeds go back out to community organizations. Beneficiaries have included Project Open Hand, Alliance Health Project (UCSF), Maitri Hospice, Lyon-Martin Women’s Health Center and dozens more over its 25 year history.
While the team changes every year, the volunteers dedicate themselves for 10 months to give back to their community, so that the valuable work of our amazing Bay Area non-profits can continue. Richard DelleFave, RINA Manager, has been at it for 10 years and loving every minute of it. He currently serves as President of its Board.
