AMP Printing (AMP) was founded in 1979 by Lew Main and his son, Jeff Main, originally working with marketing departments to assist with design and production of their marketing materials. They were a “small company taking care of small businesses”. Lew is now 82 and retired. Jeff’s wife, Kathy Main is the President of AMP and joined the company a year after she and Jeff were married — that was 29 years ago. Jeff is VP and COO and manages the manufacturing part of the company. Kathy is responsible for the day to day financial operations. Jeff and Kathy’s successful business and personal relationship philosophy is "don’t take your work home with you."
AMP is a Certified Green Business and Jeff advises that “almost everything is recycled now." With over 30 years of experience in the industry, AMP has earned the reputation as one of the Bay Area’s premier printers. Their high-volume, state of the art, 110,000 square foot facility houses a variety of distinct operation and technical capabilities that includes a complete pressroom, cutting-edge color managed prepress, full suite of finishing services, grand format imaging and digital offset. Jeff and Kathy’s business philosophy is to provide the best quality and the best service at a competitive price. "We take care of small companies the same way that we take care of large companies."
Jeff has embraced the opportunities that low interest rates afford his company. He has invested $10 million in equipment over the past two and half years and predicts that his revenues will increase by 15% or higher next year. AMP is currently trending at an increase of 23% over last year. Last year they were up 14% over prior year. They have been investing in automation, technology and equipment that have enabled them to grow and gain market share.
Jeff is most proud of his dedicated and extremely talented team and it shows by 50% of his staff being with AMP for over 5 to 10 years. Some of his staff is celebrating 30 years with the company. Jeff says that "Some of these people I have worked with half of my life." He goes on to say that with "the right team of personnel and advisors; he has generated substantial gains over the competition."
