The Rotary Club of Walnut Creek Announces the New President for the 2007 – 2008 Rotary Year The Rotary Club of Walnut Creek is celebrating their 70th Anniversary and their first female president this year. Pamela Raumer received the President’s gavel today as the 2007 – 2008 President at the Rotary Club's regularly scheduled luncheon meeting. Rotary International is celebrating twenty years of women in Rotary. The Rotary Club's main objective is to serve — in the community, in the workplace, and throughout the world. Rotarians develop community service projects that address many of today's most critical issues, such as children at risk, poverty, hunger, illiteracy, violence and the environment. They also support youth programs, educational opportunities and international exchanges for students, teachers and other professionals, and vocational and career development. Service above Self is the Rotary motto. "Pride and Passion in Rotary" will be Pamela's theme for this year, while "Sharing Rotary" is the International Rotary President's theme. Pamela believes that "the two themes are a perfect fit for my year, as I will be sharing my pride and passion in Rotary to obtain my goals.” Regarding her objectives, Pamela said her "goal this year is to bring diversity to our club membership, participate in hands on projects in our local community and continue our international projects such as the eradication of polio and providing wheelchairs and hand prosthetics to third world countries”. Pamela began her Rotary career in 1993 at The Rotary Club of Oakland, serving as a board member there from 1998 to 2000. In 2001, she joined The Rotary Club of Walnut Creek. She has chaired the membership committee for the past five years, served on the board from 2003 – 2005, and is currently a foundation trustee. Pamela is the Business Development Director for RINA accountancy corporation, a 60 year old regional accounting and consulting firm headquartered in Oakland, CA. “I would not be able to fulfill the duties of President of The Rotary Club of Walnut Creek without RINA’s support,” she said. Pamela resides in Fairfield with her husband and son, who will be attending her inaugural luncheon on Tuesday, July 10th at 12 Noon at Heather Farms Garden Center in Walnut Creek.
