During these difficult economic times, we sometimes overlook programs that are available that can reduce our operating costs. One of the programs that is often overlooked and underused is the State of California Employee Training Program. Every employer in the state currently pays into the program in the form of a payroll tax on each employee and every employer should consider whether or not they could implement a training program that would use these funds for that training. This would reduce operating costs by obtaining a reimbursement for training employees. This training probably needs to be done whether or not you seek to participate in the program and obtain the reimbursement. The California Employment Development Department oversees this program and it does require that a plan of training be submitted and approved before the training is done. If you are struggling with cash flow, this may be a way to reduce it.
